Description

The European robin is better known in Great Britain as the robin or simply robin. The male and female are identical in plumage: an orange/red breast and head with grey stripes, a brown upper side, and a white belly. They feed mainly on insects and are often found on garden feeders, where they particularly enjoy eating seeds and fat balls in winter. Male robins are extremely territorial and are known to be very aggressive towards other males that enter their territory. They have a large distribution area and occur naturally across almost the entire European continent. However, Scandinavian and Russian robins migrate to Great Britain and Western Europe to escape the harsh winters.
