Warsaw, early 1940s: Jewish Vladka and her family are forced to live in the Warsaw ghetto on the orders of the Nazis. Life behind the wall is hard, and malnutrition, disease and danger are always lurking. When Vladka sees her family members face death one by one, she rebels. She joins the ZOB, a Jewish secret group that opposes the Nazis. Because Vladka does not look ‘typically Jewish’, she is given the task of mingling with the Polish people. At the risk of her own life, she regularly sneaks to the other side of the wall and smuggles secret documents and weapons back into the ghetto. In this way, she plays an important role in the uprising of the Warsaw ghetto. Based on the gripping, true story of Vladka Meed.
