Kalaha is one of the oldest strategy games in the world. This game was already known in a similar form to the ancient Egyptians and the Assyrians. As a result, the game exists by several names, such as Mancale or Awale. The goal of the game is to collect as many stones as possible in one's own Kalaha pit. It does not matter which player starts. This player distributes the contents of one of their pits clockwise among the subsequent pits (their own and the opponent's), but places only one stone in each pit. One stone is also placed in the player's own Kalaha pit, but the opponent's is skipped each time. If the last stone lands in the player's own Kalaha pit, one may or must play again. If the last stone falls into one's own empty pit, one may remove all stones located exactly in the opponent's pit opposite and place them in one's own Kalaha pit.
