The ugly duckling

Long ago, in a friendly little village, it was spring on the farm. Under a large bush beside the stream, Mother Duck sat hatching five eggs. After a long wait, four adorable ducklings peeked out. But one egg, the largest, remained closed. Finally, the fifth egg cracked open. A large, ugly duckling waddled out, squeaking. "You're not a duckling at all," Mother Duck said in surprise. "Who could your mother be?"
