Baryonyx is a genus of theropod dinosaurs that lived approximately 125 million years ago during the Barremian stage of the Early Cretaceous. The holotype specimen was discovered in 1983 in Surrey, England, and the animal was named Baryonyx, meaning "heavy claw" and referring to the animal's very large claw on the index finger.
