The Japanese macaque observes like a quadruped. Nothing escapes those black, beady eyes on its reddish face. With its thick fur, this little monkey is well-equipped to withstand cold weather. Sometimes it has to wait out the icy wind in the snow. Then it prefers to snuggle up against a friend to warm up. But perhaps a cozy coat pocket would also help? The Japanese macaque looks around kindly. It almost seems to be smiling. It turns its bushy head with its small, reddish face. "Do you have something tasty for me?" Who can resist! Like all monkeys, this macaque loves fresh fruit. Sweet treats, such as bananas, are especially popular. The Japanese macaque is curious and sociable and enjoys making new friends. After an initial introduction, it enjoys being scratched by the thick fur on its back.
