Wash it by hand and add some wool soap. Then let it dry flat, but don't forget to pull it into shape first. For example, if you want to felt your knitted slippers, wash them with wool soap in water warmer than 40-50 degrees. Then rub the surface and felt the wool together (called fulling). You can also wash it in a machine, where it will felt and shrink slightly.
