September 11, 2001, New York. Nine-year-old Brandon goes with his father to work on the 107th floor of one of the World Trade Center towers. Out of nowhere, the entire building starts to shake and a terrible fire breaks out. A plane appears to have crashed into the building. Will Brandon and his father be able to escape and survive? 18 years later, Afghanistan. Eleven-year-old Reshmina grows up in a country torn by war, but she still dreams of freedom and peace. One day, she helps a young, wounded American soldier and in doing so, she puts her entire family in danger. The lives of Brandon and Reshmina are far apart in distance and time.
