Lemurs are one of the few animals that live in a matriarchal society, meaning that female lemurs have more control over the group than males. However, these lemur groups behave similarly to other primates, feeding and grooming each other and sleeping close together. It is unknown why lemurs exhibit this rare form of social structure.
